COP28 @ UAE PAVILION

During COP28, the UAE Pavilion at EXPO City provided an engaging and interactive cultural guest experience that celebrated the traditional crafts and heritage of the UAE.

Running from November 30 to December 12, 2023, the pavilion offered a unique opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the rich traditions of the region, blending cultural storytelling with sustainable solutions.

Evolution collaborated with the National Projects Office to design and deliver a thoughtful and immersive space that showcased the UAE’s heritage while aligning with the sustainability objectives of COP28.

Immersive Cultural Experience and Sustainable Design

• Developed a modular display solution that blended seamlessly with the surrounding environment, reflecting the pavilion's sustainability goals.
• Highlighted activities of cultural importance, including:
  • Gahwa (traditional coffee) preparation over an open fire.
  • The significance of date palms in Emirati life.
  • Traditional medicine practices and their historical context.
  • Insights into hunting and marine crafts, showcasing the UAE’s connection to its natural environment.
• Organized traditional Ayallah performances and live demonstrations by artisans who diligently completed their crafts for visitors.
• Supported the experience with lighting and audio solutions that transitioned smoothly from day to night, maintaining the space’s ambiance.
• Hosted guided tours led by ambassadors who provided a deeper understanding of the UAE’s heritage and cultural practices.
• Created a welcoming and interactive environment where visitors could actively participate in learning about traditional methodologies and practices.

The COP28 UAE Pavilion succeeded in creating a meaningful cultural journey for guests, emphasizing the UAE’s heritage and sustainable practices.
