EXPO 2020: OPENING CEREMONY

For the spectacular Dubai Expo 2020 Opening Ceremony, Evolution was entrusted by Five Currents LLC to produce six stunning scenic flower elements that captured the beauty and movement of blooming flowers.

These elements were designed to stand out within the grandeur of the Al Wasl Dome, enhancing the ceremony’s visual impact while seamlessly integrating with the performers' choreography.

Design and Development
Evolution was responsible for:

• Designing and engineering the flowers based on conceptual designs, translating vision into structurally sound and visually captivating scenic elements.
• Integrating technical functionality to allow for color changes and controlled motion, ensuring dynamic and impactful performances.

Execution and Scenic Features
The mechanized flowers were a visual highlight of the ceremony, blending artistry with engineering through:

• A variety of materials, including wood, metal, and fabric, ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal.
• Integration of color-changing fiber optic lamps and cables, with illumination at the ends and sides, creating vivid and dynamic lighting effects.
• Continuous testing and refinement to achieve kinetic motion, enabling petals to spiral, twist, and open in a natural, blooming sequence.
• Custom-designed bases for mobility, featuring manual and battery-powered wireless functionality to adapt seamlessly to performer movements.

The flowers made a lasting impression, their mesmerizing motion and vibrant colors complementing the grandeur of the Dubai Expo 2020 Opening Ceremony.
