Union Parade 2022
For the sixth consecutive year, Evolution produced the Union Parade in Al Wathba, a national celebration honouring the founding of the UAE and the unity of its 120 tribes.
Presented in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and royal dignitaries, the event needed to give traditional participation a setting of national scale while supporting thousands of guests, tribal representatives, performers and operational teams.
Evolution treated the parade as a complete cultural site rather than a viewing stand placed beside a show area. Front-of-house spectacle and tribal back-of-house infrastructure were planned together so the event could celebrate unity through both what audiences witnessed and how participants were supported.
The Challenge
The show area required three grandstands with a combined capacity of up to 10,000 attendees. Behind the public programme, 120 tribes each needed a dedicated tent, supported by catering, security, power, air conditioning and lighting.
The remote Al Wathba setting increased the importance of temporary infrastructure, utility distribution and service access. Every system had to perform reliably while the movement of public attendees, VVIP guests, tribal participants and operational teams was carefully coordinated across the site.
The Solution
Evolution designed and constructed a broad show environment with three grandstands arranged around audience visibility and ceremonial focus. The scale gave the parade a strong collective presence while maintaining clear routes for arrival, seating and departure.
A dedicated back-of-house area provided 120 individual tribal tents. Each space was equipped with power, air conditioning and lighting, creating dependable preparation and hospitality environments for the participating communities.
Catering and security facilities were integrated into the wider site plan, with technical and site-service systems coordinated around the parade schedule. Branding and scenic treatment connected the large infrastructure package to the event’s national identity.
Events, Scenic, Technical and Site Services teams worked through one operating structure, aligning show-area readiness, participant welfare and utility distribution before the site moved into live use.

Outcome
Union Parade 2022 gave the unity of 120 tribes a physical scale visible across the complete site. The grandstands created a shared national audience, while the serviced tribal compound respected the needs of each participating community behind the performance.
The celebration could therefore operate as both spectacle and gathering, supported by infrastructure robust enough to make a remote temporary site feel organised, welcoming and ceremonial.
