• ADSW & ZFEP Gala

An invitation-only reception and awards dinner combining elegant décor, projection mapping, bespoke furniture, entertainment and protocol within Louvre Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2018 brought more than 35,000 participants from 175 countries to the capital. Within the wider programme, the Official ADSW Reception and Zayed Future Energy Prize Gala Dinner were held as invitation-only events at Louvre Abu Dhabi.

The setting carried immediate architectural and cultural significance. Evolution needed to create an event with its own identity and sense of occasion while allowing the museum's architecture and collections to remain at the heart of the guest experience.

Evolution's approach was to complement rather than compete with the venue. Custom scenic elements, projection, furniture, floral design and carefully managed protocol were brought together to create a cohesive environment that connected the reception, awards ceremony, hospitality and entertainment into one seamless guest journey.

    The Challenge

Louvre Abu Dhabi leaves little room for generic ballroom thinking. Décor, stages, lighting and projection needed to complement the architecture rather than compete with it, while venue restrictions and HSE requirements shaped what could be installed and how.

The programme also had to move invited guests through reception, dining, entertainment and recognition without exposing operational complexity. Service, protocol, show flow and technical delivery all needed to maintain the evening’s sense of ease.

Orchestral performance stage set with acoustic sound baffling and precision spot lighting

    The Solution

Evolution provided overall event management, coordinating planning, design, supplier interfaces and live execution around the specific requirements of the Louvre setting.

Colourful but controlled décor introduced warmth and identity, with custom stages, scenic elements and branding tailored to the exclusivity of the reception and gala.

Projection mapping and other technical treatments extended the visual experience without requiring heavy physical intervention. The technology enhanced the architecture and programme while preserving clear attention on speakers, winners and entertainment.

Bespoke furniture, floral centrepieces, giveaways and guest-experience details completed the hospitality environment. Evolution also coordinated entertainment and managed HSE, protocol and venue restrictions across the full programme.

  • E1 Jeddah

AVL, event power, infrastructure and FF&E coordinated as one waterfront production platform for the world’s first electric race-boat championship.

E1 is the world’s first electric race-boat championship, created to combine competitive on-water racing with cleaner technologies and a greater awareness of coastal environments.

For the Jeddah leg, STAMINA Productions appointed Evolution to oversee project management and deliver a turnkey production package spanning AVL, site services and FF&E.

The strategic requirement was coherence. Technical systems, guest environments and waterfront infrastructure needed to operate as one connected experience, ensuring the championship’s focus on innovation was reflected through the precision, quality and delivery of the live event.

    The Challenge

Waterfront sporting events distribute production requirements across large, exposed environments. Audio, video, lighting, power, cabling and guest facilities must remain reliable while supporting clear movement between race operations, hospitality areas and spectator zones.

The event also involved several stakeholder groups, including E1, MOS and SWSDF. Their technical, logistical and operational requirements needed to be aligned early, ensuring different systems could integrate effectively without creating operational conflicts or late changes across the venue.

    The Solution

Waterfront sporting events require production systems to operate across large, exposed environments where technical reliability and guest experience must be managed together. Audio, video, lighting, power, cabling and guest facilities needed to remain consistent while supporting the movement of race operations, hospitality areas and spectator zones.

The event also involved several stakeholder groups, including E1, MOS and SWSDF, each with specific technical, logistical and operational requirements. These elements needed to be coordinated early to ensure systems integrated effectively, responsibilities remained clear and the waterfront environment could operate as one unified event space.

  • UK Pavilion at Expo 2020

A pavilion interior balancing contemporary design, British cultural references, artistic displays and functional event spaces within one visitor journey.

The UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai presented the United Kingdom through culture, technology and artistic expression. Evolution was appointed to deliver the pavilion interior fit-out, translating the wider theme into an environment visitors could enter, understand and remember.

The strategic task was to avoid separating exhibition content from the spaces needed to host people and activity. Contemporary design, recognisable British influences, functional areas and artistic displays had to feel like parts of the same national story.

Evolution approached the fit-out as a complete visitor environment. The interior needed to communicate identity at first glance, reward closer exploration and remain practical throughout the six-month Expo programme.

    The Challenge

A national pavilion has to serve several purposes simultaneously. It must represent a country, support changing events and presentations, accommodate high visitor volumes and retain its quality across an extended public programme.

The interior also needed to express the UK without relying on literal or nostalgic motifs. Materials, forms and displays had to balance modernity with cultural recognition, while fitting within the architecture and operating requirements of the completed pavilion.

Evolution Events Great Cheese installation featuring British cattle imagery and a raised UK map

    The Solution

Evolution developed and installed custom interior elements that combined contemporary aesthetics with carefully selected British references. The approach gave the pavilion a distinctive identity without reducing the experience to decorative symbolism.

High-quality materials were selected around both finish and durability, allowing the interior to retain its visual standard under sustained public use. Functional areas were integrated alongside artistic displays so events, conversations and visitor engagement could take place within the same designed language.

The spatial treatment gave the United Kingdom’s cultural and technological achievements a clear physical frame. Displays and guest areas were arranged to support movement through the pavilion rather than competing for attention as separate installations.

Through coordinated design development, fabrication and installation, the fit-out became a working cultural environment rather than a static exhibition shell.

    Delivery Highlights

    • Complete interior fit-out for the UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
    • Custom-made interior elements combining contemporary design with British cultural references.
    • High-quality materials selected for durability and visual finish.
    • Integrated artistic displays and functional event areas.
    • Spatial environment supporting visitor engagement throughout the Expo programme.
    • Design and execution aligned with the pavilion’s wider cultural and technological theme.
Great Snacks tasting area combining British produce, digital graphics and natural timber finishes

    Outcome

The completed interior gave the UK Pavilion a coherent visitor experience in which culture, innovation and hospitality could coexist. Guests encountered a national identity expressed through the whole environment rather than through isolated displays.

The fit-out remained visually distinctive while supporting the practical requirements of events, engagement and daily pavilion operation across Expo 2020 Dubai.

  • WJC Fireside Chat

A refined discussion environment created for Bill Clinton, 12 UAE Rhodes Scholars and invited leaders marking a decade of the UAE Rhodes Scholarship

On 26 January 2025, Ideas Abu Dhabi hosted a special session celebrating the tenth anniversary of the UAE Rhodes Scholarship. Organised by Tamkeen with the Aspen Institute and Clinton Global Initiative, the event featured former U.S. President Bill Clinton in conversation with 12 UAE Rhodes Scholars, business leaders and civil-society representatives.

The occasion called for a setting with presence, but the purpose of the event was dialogue rather than spectacle. Evolution worked within the established Ideas Abu Dhabi brand to develop an environment that felt prestigious, composed and appropriately focused on the people and ideas in the room. Scenic design, furniture and technical integration were treated as a quiet framework for conversation, creating clarity without competing for attention.

    The Challenge

The event brought a globally recognised speaker together with a small group of scholars and senior representatives. The physical setting needed to communicate significance while preserving the intimacy and directness of the discussion.

The Ideas Abu Dhabi identity was already defined, so the creative task was interpretation rather than reinvention. New scenic and photo environments had to feel specific to the anniversary session while remaining unmistakably part of the wider brand.

Audience seating, speaker furniture, cocktail settings, technical systems and photography moments all needed to support the same understated tone.

    Image description

    The Solution

Evolution developed the concept within the existing brand guidelines, using proportion, finish and visual restraint to create a sophisticated setting for dialogue.

A custom stage backdrop established a clear frame for the conversation without creating excessive separation between speakers and audience. Dedicated photo-opportunity backdrops extended the identity into arrival and documentation moments, giving the occasion a recognisable visual record.

The furniture package included audience seating, cocktail tables and speaker furniture selected around the scale and tone of the session. These choices helped the room move between formal listening, informal exchange and photography without requiring unrelated visual treatments.

Technical integration and onsite installation were coordinated with the scenic and furniture plan, ensuring that sound, presentation and event infrastructure remained visually discreet and operationally dependable.

    Delivery Highlights

    • Special Ideas Abu Dhabi session marking ten years of the UAE Rhodes Scholarship.
    • Discussion led by former U.S. President Bill Clinton with 12 UAE Rhodes Scholars.
    • Creative concept developed within established Ideas Abu Dhabi brand guidelines.
    • Custom stage backdrop and dedicated photo-opportunity environments.
    • Furniture package including audience seating, cocktail tables and speaker settings.
    • Integrated technical production and onsite installation.
    • Environment tailored to an intimate, high-profile leadership dialogue.

    Outcome

The completed environment gave the anniversary session a sense of distinction without distancing the speakers from the audience. The visual framing reinforced Ideas Abu Dhabi, while the room remained centred on conversation among leaders and scholars.

The result was an event that felt important because of the quality of the exchange, with design and production providing confidence, focus and continuity around it.

  • ADIPEC Awards

A 42-metre stage, synchronised table lighting and nominee-led pre-function experience created for more than 600 energy-sector guests at Emirates Palace.

In October 2022, DMG Events and ADNOC hosted the 12th ADIPEC Awards at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, welcoming more than 600 guests to recognise businesses and individuals shaping the future of the energy sector.

The creative requirement was to give recognition a sense of scale. Evolution designed the evening so the awardees, nominee stories and energy-sector achievements were present throughout the guest journey, not confined to the moment an envelope was opened.

A wide scenic composition established the ceremony’s authority, while programmable lighting, screen content and nominee displays connected the dining room, stage and pre-function experience through one visual narrative.

    The Challenge

Awards evenings must balance celebration with precision. More than 600 guests needed an elegant hospitality environment, clear sightlines and an uninterrupted show sequence, while nominees and winners required a platform capable of carrying both personal stories and industry significance.

The scale of the ballroom created another challenge: the stage had to feel commanding without overwhelming the guests closest to it. Table centrepieces, multiple screens and pre-function content also needed to behave as parts of the same awards identity rather than isolated production features.

ADIPEC Awards 2022 ballroom dinner setup with illuminated tables and a dramatic circular stage backdrop.

    The Solution

Evolution developed a 42-metre-wide main stage with custom scenic architecture and programmable lighting. Multiple screens were integrated across the composition, with a circular branded screen positioned behind the lectern to create a consistent visual centre for speeches, presentations and winner moments.

Custom animations, films and screen content gave the ceremony an editorial rhythm, allowing each category to arrive with its own visual energy while remaining within the wider ADIPEC Awards language. Evolution Events led this content and media work, with technical systems supporting precise playback and show control.

Programmable table centrepieces synchronised the guest environment with key show moments, extending the ceremony beyond the stage. In the pre-function area, nominee displays and photo backdrops allowed recognition to begin from arrival and gave guests a clear opportunity to engage with the award categories before entering the ballroom.

Photography and video coverage documented the evening, while coordinated scenic, technical and live-event planning protected the transitions between hospitality, speeches, category content and presentations.

    Delivery Highlights

    • Design and production of the 12th ADIPEC Awards at Emirates Palace.
    • A 42-metre-wide main stage with custom scenic elements and programmable lighting.
    • Multiple integrated screens and a circular branding screen behind the lectern.
    • Custom animations, films and screen content supporting award storytelling.
    • Programmable table centrepieces synchronised with the event identity.
    • Pre-function nominee displays and dedicated photo-backdrop walls.
    • Photography and video coverage documenting the ceremony.
Panoramic shot of Abu Dhabi ballroom filled with energy industry professionals during awards

    Outcome

The completed environment gave the ADIPEC Awards a visual scale equal to the achievements being recognised. Guests encountered the nominees from the pre-function area onward, while the stage, tables and content worked together to build anticipation across the evening.

Recognition was therefore experienced as a complete hospitality and storytelling journey: personal enough to honour individual winners, yet substantial enough to represent the influence of the global energy sector.

  • UAE 50th National Day

One hundred illuminated building replicas rose from the stage at Hatta Dam, turning five decades of national development into a synchronised kinetic skyline.

The UAE’s 50th National Day celebration at Hatta used the landscape of Hatta Dam as the setting for a performance tracing the nation’s progress and achievements.

Evolution collaborated with LarMac Projects ME Limited to create 100 telescopic lightboxes based on iconic UAE buildings. Together, the structures formed a scenic narrative of national development rather than a conventional architectural backdrop.

The creative concept relied on movement, scale and illumination. Each structure needed to rise from the stage, maintain the recognisable proportions of its architectural reference and perform as part of a synchronised landscape of light that remained legible across the dam.

    The Challenge

Every building required its own visual identity while operating as part of one mechanical system. Taller structures needed up to four telescoping tiers, custom lifting mechanisms and sufficient stability for live performers working nearby.

The mountainous setting introduced high winds, rain and humidity. The scenic elements also had to retract into the stage floor and operate reliably within a live performance where timing and synchronisation were critical.

Massive curved water screen projection system displaying historical UAE documentary visuals

    The Solution

Evolution designed, supplied, installed and operated 100 custom lightboxes, each modelled on an iconic UAE building and adjusted to retain relative scale differences within the stage composition.

Heavy-duty industrial tracks and telescopic tower mechanisms allowed the structures to emerge and retract. Multi-tier designs were engineered for taller buildings, translating the varied national skyline into a workable kinetic system.

Independently controlled LEDs created dimensional lighting across each replica. All 100 elements were connected through a single electrical control circuit, allowing colour and sequence changes to be synchronised from a command position approximately 30 metres away.

Structural design, testing and live operation were developed around weather exposure, performer safety and the precision required for the buildings to rise as part of the choreography.

    Delivery Highlights

    • One hundred custom telescopic replicas of iconic UAE buildings.
    • Scenic sequence staged on an artificial pool at the edge of Hatta Dam.
    • Up to four telescoping tiers for the tallest building structures.
    • Custom lifting mechanisms and heavy-duty industrial tracks.
    • Independently controlled LED lighting within every lightbox.
    • Synchronised control through one electrical circuit from 30 metres away.
    • Engineering for high winds, rain, humidity and live performer safety.
Monumental floating stage structure built over water for national day theatrical performance

    Outcome

The buildings transformed national progress into a live visual event. As the illuminated skyline emerged from the stage, architecture became a moving timeline rather than a static symbol.

The precision of the mechanical and lighting systems allowed 100 individual structures to read as one national image, creating a powerful centrepiece within the Hatta landscape.
